This elegant stoneware vase from Danish Søholm captures the design language of the 1970s with its rustic character and thoughtful details. Designed by Svend Aage Jensen, who also signed this vase, it boasts a distinct two-part profile where the lower, turned section features a vibrant marbled glaze in earthy tones. The upper, smoother section is adorned with Noomi Backhausen's characteristic decor from the Erika series, featuring dark blue spots against a light stoneware background. An expressive collector's item that adds both weight and graphic contrast to any interior.

The story of this object

The Erika series was launched by Søholm on Bornholm in 1971 and quickly became appreciated for its modern and tactile expression. The collaboration between head designer Svend Aage Jensen, who created the shapes, and Noomi Backhausen, who developed the glaze and decor, resulted in some of the ceramic factory's most timeless stoneware series.
