A beautiful square white-glazed faience dish from Danish Royal Copenhagen. The model features gently rounded corners and a vibrant, hand-painted abstract floral pattern in earthy brown shades with bright yellow accents. An excellent example of Danish design from the period, equally striking as a decorative accent on a shelf or for holding jewelry and trinkets.
The story of this object
During the 1960s and '70s, Royal Copenhagen created several groundbreaking faience series, including Tenera and Baca. A group of skilled designers were given free rein to experiment with color, pattern, and new glazing techniques. The result was a colorful and modern contrast to the porcelain factory's more traditional output, and today these pieces are sought-after design classics.
