Rustic Danish 1960s Ceramics
VAT included. Sold under the margin scheme for second-hand goods — no VAT is shown separately.
This expressive bowl from renowned Søholm on Bornholm captures the essence of 1960s Danish ceramics. The exterior features a tactile, coarsely textured chamotte finish that contrasts beautifully with the glossy, vibrant glaze inside. The decoration consists of a hand-painted abstract pattern in warm brown and moss green tones against a light speckled background, giving the piece a distinct retro character. Perfect as an eye-catching centerpiece on a coffee table or as a unique interior accent.
The story of this object
The Søholm pottery factory on the Danish island of Bornholm was founded in 1835 and became widely known during the second half of the 20th century for its robust and innovative stoneware. Their pieces from the 1960s and 1970s are often characterized by coarse chamotte clay combined with deep, earthy glazes, which became a signature of the Danish ceramics wave.
