A magnificent and impressive stoneware platter from Danish Søholm, designed by Einar Johansen during the 1960s. The expressive glaze offers a fantastic play of colors where deep bright blue meets warm tones of ochre and sand in an abstract, fluid pattern with a dark blue border. With its generous diameter of over approx. 11.8 in (30 cm), the platter becomes a striking centerpiece on the table, equally beautiful as a standalone art piece or for serving.
The story of this object
The Søholm pottery factory on Bornholm was for many decades one of Denmark's leading stoneware manufacturers. During the 1960s, Einar Johansen created several successful series where the rustic contrast between deep blue and warm brown became a signature for both the designer and the pottery.
