A beautiful table lamp in glazed faience, designed by Johanne Gerber for Danish Royal Copenhagen. The lamp base, model number 3121 with pattern 780, is part of the Baca artistic line and is decorated with an expressive and stylized floral pattern in deep blue tones, strikingly punctuated by dark vertical lines. The brass fitting provides an elegant top to the patterned ceramic. An excellent example of the innovative Danish faience tradition of the 1960s, perfect as an artistic eye-catcher in any interior. Lampshade not included.
The story of this object
During the 1960s, Royal Copenhagen launched series such as Tenera and Baca under the artistic direction of Nils Thorsson. Here, a group of young artists, including Johanne Gerber, were given space to create bold and modern patterns that came to define the era's groundbreaking Danish ceramics.
