A colorful Chinese vase in classic baluster shape that immediately catches the eye. Richly decorated with polychrome enamel colors, traditional floral patterns on red and green grounds frame evocative scenes featuring Asian mythical creatures. Its bold form and strong color contrasts make the vase an exciting and expressive interior detail that makes a statement in any room.

The story of this object

Chinese porcelain has fascinated the Western world for centuries with its rich symbolism and deep craft traditions. This vibrant decoration draws elements from the historic famille verte and famille rose styles, whose intricate patterns have been preserved and reproduced over time to honor the aesthetics of bygone eras. The six characters on the base read vertically from right to left: 大清康熙年製 (Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi). This translates to Made during the Great Qing Dynasty under the reign of Kangxi (which originally refers to the years 1662–1722). Although the mark references the 17th/18th century, the vase is not an antique from that period. It is a so-called apocryphal mark (an honorific reproduction to pay tribute to earlier craftsmanship), which is very common on Chinese ceramics.
