A stylish teardrop-shaped vase in thick clear glass from the historic Kosta glassworks. The vase is skillfully crafted using the sommerso technique, where a green glass core is encased in a deep blue layer, creating a fascinating optical depth and beautiful color effect. An excellent example of high-grade Swedish glass craftsmanship from the mid-20th century, complete with the maker's original label and signed on the bottom!

The story of this object

The sommerso technique, originally developed on Murano and meaning 'submerged', was adopted with great success by Swedish glassworks during the 1950s and '60s. Vicke Lindstrand, who served as artistic director at Kosta from 1950, is well known for his elegant teardrop-shaped pieces in these floating jewel tones.
