An elegant, oval-cylindrical vase from Rörstrand Studio Collection. The upper half features a smooth, subtly light blue glaze that contrasts beautifully with the lower half's detailed, embossed relief decor. The decoration evokes woven fabric, natural fibers, and threads, giving the piece a distinct tactile quality. A stylish example typical of Swedish 1980s design.
The story of this object
Suzanne Öhlén (born 1953) was educated at Konstfack and subsequently became an appreciated designer for Rörstrand and Iittala, among others. Her design language from this period is often characterized by a delicate balance between sleek, minimalist forms and soft, nature-inspired, tactile surface textures.
