Colorful and playful Swedish retro

SEK 450

A charming and period-typical serving platter from Jie Gantofta, made of glazed earthenware. The platter features naive, hand-painted decorations depicting fish, fried eggs, and shrimp against a white background, beautifully framed by a bright yellow border. The humorous and colorful style is very characteristic of the factory's production during the mid-20th century, reminiscent of designer Anita Nylund's well-known kitchen motifs. A perfect and atmospheric serving dish for herring or as a pop of color on the set table.

The story of this object

Jie Gantofta (Jie Johnson AB) was founded in Skåne in 1942 and became enormously popular during the 1950s and 1960s for its utility and decorative ceramics. The factory employed several skilled designers who created cozy motifs that became synonymous with the Swedish 'folkhem'.
