A rectangular serving platter from Jie Gantofta with softly rounded shapes and upturned short sides. The decoration consists of a hand-painted checkered pattern in light yellow and off-white, where selected fields are adorned with delicate, polychrome summer flowers. The rims of the short sides are glazed in a contrasting bottle-green shade, giving the platter a rustic and cozy character. A practical and charming addition to the set table.
The story of this object
Jie Gantofta (1942–1992) started as a manufacturer of utility ceramics and wooden goods, but during the second half of the 20th century became best known for its decorative wall plaques and cozy tableware. The company captured the Swedish folk art trend in a genuine way and hired several prominent designers.
