Thick-walled pressed glass vase in a subtle salmon pink, or so-called rosaline, tone. The shape is barrel-like with a tapered base and opening, executed with a strong relief of vertical ridges. These frame the characteristic deep, lens-shaped depressions that gave the model its name and create exciting optical effects.
The story of this object
The model, often called Bullet or Lens (model number 914), was designed in 1955 by Rudolf Schröter for the Rosice glassworks. The glassworks later became part of the Czechoslovak glass consortium Sklo Union. Schröter is often referred to as the father of modern Czech pressed glass.
