An elegant and colorful vase from the Pandora series, designed by the prominent glass artist Monica Backström for Kosta Boda. The vase is distinguished by its sandblasted matte, deep blue surface with subtle color shifts, as well as signature applied details in bright red glass at the rim and foot. The frosted clear glass base creates a beautiful contrast, visually accentuating the teardrop-shaped body. An excellent example of Backström's playful and expressive design language.
The story of this object
Monica Backström (1939–2020) was for several decades one of Kosta Boda's most influential designers. Her design is often characterized by bold colors, playful shapes, and a desire to experiment with glass surface textures, of which the Pandora series is a fine example.
